Gerrit Rietveld
Gerrit Rietveld was a Dutch furniture designer and architect who is best known for his contributions to the De Stijl art movement. Born in 1888 in Utrecht, Rietveld began his career as a cabinetmaker and later went on to study architecture. Rietveld's designs are characterized by their use of simple forms, primary colors, and straight lines. Rietveld’s ambition to create modern, functional, and affordable furniture aligns with HAY's core principles. The Rietveld Originals x HAY collaboration is therefore a perfect match.
