Joergen Baekmark

Jørgen Bækmark was a Danish designer who designed several pieces of iconic Danish furniture. He is trained as a cabinetmaker and took courses in the applied arts. Later he worked at the FDB furniture design studio from 1958 until 1967. FDB (Fællesforeningen for Denmark’s Brugsforeninger) is the Danish Consumers Cooperative Society, widely known as Coop. He was known for pioneering flat-pack furniture for export. His goal was to create simple, elegant and practical objects for intended mass consumption, but they needed tot be Lightweight for export. For HAY, he designed the J104 dining chair.
