The Crate Collection
HAY has partnered with Rietveld Originals to relaunch the iconic Crate Collection. The collection consists of a lounge chair, dining chair, dining table, and side tables. All made with respect for the original design by Gerrit Rietveld.
Gerrit Rietveld was a Dutch furniture designer and architect who is best known for his contributions to the De Stijl art movement. Born in 1888 in Utrecht, Rietveld began his career as a cabinetmaker and later went on to study architecture.
Rietveld's designs are characterised by their use of simple forms, primary colours, and straight lines. His ambition to create modern, functional, and affordable furniture aligns with HAY's core principles and makes this collaboration a match made in heaven.
